Adult Classes

The Driver Safety Program is designed to give adults the tools needed to drive defensively and be better aware while behind the wheel.

Completion of this AARP course may qualify you for an auto insurance discount. We ask that you register before the class, but you will pay the day of.

Make checks payable to AARP. There will be time given for breaks. Feel free to bring a lunch or snack. Participants must attend both days to receive the discount

Would you like to have your very own garden but don't have the space at home?

Well we can help!  The Berwyn Park District offers fourteen garden plots for rental.  The garden plots are located at the corner of 29th place and Home Avenue.  Plots are tilled and available for planting April 1, depending on the weather.  No security on this site. Water is available on site; please bring your own water carrying containers.  Plant and seed purchases are the responsibility of the gardener. New this year:  Area will be fenced!

Fall is your season to be fashionable. Using right angle weave, seed beads and Swarovski crystals, make a simple and stunning bracelet that can be worn to a party, wedding or dressed down to wear with jeans and your favorite t-shirt. Materials will need to be purchased ahead of time, so you can have your choice of material/colors. Participation fee covers instructor costs.

This program is designed for the person who loves to knit or crochet and would love to use this fun skill to donate your finished product to people in need. Our donations go to Loyola’s Neonatal Department, Jesse Brown Hospital in Chicago and the Veterans.

At our meetings we will discuss what the need is, such as infant knit caps, booties, baby quilts, blankets and lap robes. The following meetings will be used to work on projects. Coffee and great conversation will be present each week, so join us for a great cause!

Join Jesse Flores as he teaches your dog to obey commands while using
praise to motivate instead of treats. Individual problems you have will
also be addressed. Beginner level course is for dogs 5 months and older.
Handler must be old enough to have control over the dog. Dogs need to
be up to date with vaccinations. A six foot leash and properly fitted collar
are required.

The Proksa Park Garden Club is sponsored and funded by the Berwyn Park District.

The club meets in the Proksa Park Multi-Purpose Room at 3001 S. Wisconsin Ave at 6:30pm on the third Monday of each month.  Occasional special functions are held elsewhere and are posted on the Garden Club section of the Park District Website.

Club members are encouraged to volunteer to help design, create and maintain several gardens in the park.  These include a Butterfly Garden, a Native Plant Garden, a Children's Garden, and other general plantings.

WE LOVE VOLUNTEERS!!!

We are always looking for volunteers to help plant, weed, and harvest the plots we tend in Proksa Park!

If you would like to help out, contact Zak Kerby at 708.956.7870 or zkerby@berwynparks.org.  He will pass along your information to a club member and help get you started. Once a member, you can work on the plot of your choice anytime the park is open.

The Steppin Out Socials are a popular event held every month on a Friday afternoon! Our guests rave about the food, enjoy a wide variety of entertainment and get together with friends! Papel Picado, Kiri-e, Jianzhi, Scherenschnitte, Wycinanki. These are some of the words describing the art of paper cutting. From simple banners to elaborate cut pieces seen in galleries and museums, paper cutting has been a popular form of folk art for over 2000 years. In this two-day workshop, we will venture into this folk art by drawing simple images on paper and using x-acto knives to cut on and around the lines and bring your images to life!
