Martial Arts

The Martial Arts program will build on the skills that focus on awareness, personal edification, and self-defense using the martial arts system known as Kung Fu. The curriculum will include conflict resolution and non-lethal restraint techniques. Skills include blocks, kicks, punches, falls and throws. All students receive a study sheet that will assist in reviewing the material.

The class also works on flexibility, running, endurance, strength, concentration and coordination. Students will perform exercises such as jogging, jumping jacks, sit-ups, and push ups. Classes begin with a warmup regimen. Tardy students engage in a quick warmup to prepare their body for class activities. If available, participants are able to sign up for more than one class for additional practice and to develop stronger techniques.

Notes:

- Please bring a water bottle for class breaks.
- A uniform is required.
- Students should wear a standard black Kung Fu uniform.

Students will receive information on purchasing a uniform upon registering for the class.

If a uniform is independently purchased, it should be a black cotton blend Kung Fu uniform with frog tie buttons.

Students that have a rank/belt/sash must demonstrate that they have the knowledge required to wear it. Shoes should be worn because the class will practice on and off of the mats. Jewelry, watches, and shorts are not allowed. A folder with a study sheet and other information will be provided for each student.
