Proksa Park, formerly known as Berwyn Park, was dedicated to Joseph Proksa, the first Superintendent of Parks upon his retirement in 1958. Proksa Park covers approximately fifteen acres and is bordered by Wisconsin and Home Avenues, 29th Place and 31st Street. Commissioner Edward A. Karasek Passes Away
It is with great sadness that we announce that Commissioner Edward A. Karasek passed away Wednesday evening. Mr. Karasek was the longest serving park commissioner in the State of Illinois with more than 51 years of volunteer elected service with the Berwyn Park District. He was first appointed in 1966 and has served impeccably ever since. His love, passion, and dedication to the Berwyn Park District led the Berwyn Park District from one park (Proksa) to the current 13 park/facility locations...

Shadow Creek Disc Golf Course Equipment Arrives!
The equipment for the planned Berwyn Park District Shadow Creek Disc Golf Course has begun to arrive. We are currently awaiting the Tee- Signs and expect to begin installation in August with an opening by October 1, 2016. We will have a community build for anyone interested in assisting with the project on a Saturday to be determined in August. Wiffleball Tourney Tomorrow, First Pitch 10am
Tomorrow's Wiffleball Tournament will kick off with first pitch at 10am! We ask that teams show up to get checked in and warm up before play begins. New Lift Truck Arrives
The District has received a new 2016 Lift Truck that will be used to help maintain/remove trees, lights, and other items that require a lift. The truck which has a working height of 44 feet replaces a 1986 unit that was no longer serviceable due to age. The new unit which cost $83,000 will be placed into service after required training is completed.

BPD Selected to Fund My Park Campaign
The Berwyn Park District was selected to participate in the FUND MY PARK Campaign through the National Recreation and Park Association. BPD is one of twelve agencies selected nationally to participate in the month-long April campaign and is raising money to construct a Disc Golf Course at Proksa Park. The campaign raised more than $6,600 towards the estimated project cost of $10,000. Supplies and Materials will be ordered in June and installation will begin in July.

Police and Fire Training
The Berwyn Park District, in cooperation with local Police and Fire Departments, will be holding trainings at 6514 W. 27th Place. The property is going to become a park, but before the house is demolished we are giving the city an opportunity for training they wouldn't otherwise receive.
