2019 Consolidated Election Information
Legal Notice

The Berwyn Park District will have two (2) six-year term and one (1) two-year partial term for the office of Park Commissioner in the April 2, 2019 Consolidated Election for the Office of Park Commissioner.

The following information is designed as an overview of election requirements only. IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT POTENTIAL CANDIDATES CONSULT AN ATTORNEY FOR GUIDANCE.
OFFICE: PARK COMMISSIONER

QUALIFICATIONS: Qualified elector/registered voter. A person is not eligible to serve as Park Commissioner if that person is in arrears in the payment of a tax or other indebtedness due to the Park District or has been convicted in any court located in the United States of any infamous crime, bribery, perjury, or other felony. [70 ILCS 1205/2-11]

RESIDENCY: A Commissioner must be resident of the Park District at least one year prior to the election. [70 ILCS 1205/2-11] and shall be a legal voter of and reside within the Park District boundaries. [70 ILCS 1205/2-15]

SIGNATURE REQUIREMENTS: Signature requirements for a Park District Commissioner Petition must be signed by not less than 2% of the number of ballots cast at the last election for commissioner in the district, but in no case by less than 25. [70 ILCS 1205/2-11, 2-17]

PETITION: Nonpartisan SBE Form P-4. (See the Candidate's Guide for the form.)

STATEMENT OF CANDIDACY: Filed with the nominating petitions. Nonpartisan SBE Form P-1A. (See the Candidate's Guide for the form.)

LOYALTY OATH: (Optional) Filed with the nominating petitions. SBE Form P-1C. (See the Candidate's Guide for the form.)

STATEMENT OF ECONOMIC INTERESTS: Filed with the county clerk of the county in which the principal office of the unit of local government with which the person is associated is located.( See page 19 of the Candidate's Guide regarding the filing of the receipt. [5 ILCS 420/4A-106]

FILING DATES: December 10-17, 2018 (not more than 113 nor less than 106 days prior to the date of the Consolidated Election).

WHERE TO FILE: Berwyn Park District-Freedom Park Office, 3701 S. Scoville Avenue, Berwyn, Illinois 60402. The Office will be open from 9 am until 5 pm. during this time period. Contact 708-788-1701.

CAMPAIGN DISCLOSURE: Reports must be filed either on paper or electronically with the State Board of Elections, 2329 S. MacArthur Blvd., Springfield, IL 62704 or 100 West Randolph Street, Suite 14-100, Chicago IL 60601.

FAIR CAMPAIGN PRACTICES ACT: Filed with county clerk. (Voluntary – see page 20)

TERM BEGINS: Commissioners shall serve until their successors are elected and qualified. [70 ILCS 1205/2-12, 2-15]
